Deadline is reporting that Ewan McGregor is set to make his feature directorial debut with the upcoming adaptation of Philip Roth's Pulitzer Prize winning novel American Pastoral.
Set against the Vietman War, the story follows a former high school athlete who seemingly has grown up to have the perfect life. He married a former beauty queen, interited the family business, and raised a family. His idyllic existence is shattered when his daughter becomes a revolutionary and commits an act of terrorism.
Philip Noyce ( had been attached to direct, but has recently left the project. McGregor will also star in the film, alongside Dakota Fanning in the role of the revolutionary daughter, and Jennifer Connelly in the role of the wife.
Production is scheduled to begin in September.
