President Snow is not asking you to watch these deleted scenes from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. With a bit of time to look back on the movies of 2014 I gotta say I'm kind of happy that Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 was so damn huge. It was a great year for adult cinema (Whiplash and Selma jump immediately to mind), but also for Young Adult cinema. Think about the time when the big money makers were soap opera YA adaptations with sparkling vampires and creepy babies and stuff and then consider that the youth is now focused on a series with a similar basic love triangle angle, but with a decidely grown up political undercurrent.

While I might never be 100% the target audience for the Hunger Games films, I can appreciate what they are and how ambitious it is to try to get kids of this day and age to recognize what propaganda is and how it works.

Mockingjay Part 1 hits Blu shelves at the beginning of March and is available today as an HD download, so in celebration/promotion of such an event Lionsgate has released a couple deleted scenes.

The first one, below, features a conversation between Donald Sutherland's President Snow and Josh Hutcherson's Peeta. Since I haven't read the book I was a little in the dark about what was going on with Peeta in the theatrical cut and this deleted scene sheds some light on his character, showing that he wasn't crazy brainwashed kid the entire time of the movie.

The next deleted scene is more comedic, with a disasterous attempt at making up Katniss for her big propaganda effort.

So there you go, Hunger Gamians. New scenes to chew on as you eagerly anticipate the Blu-Ray. (Catchy whistle theme here).
