Via Dark Horizons comes this interesting catch:
The Avengers Indonesia Twitter stream has posted packaging images of a LEGO set from the forthcoming ANT-MAN movie.
The set (LEGO set # 76039) is called “ANT-MAN Final Battle.” If you look closely, the set appears to feature not only expected Ant-Man and Yellow Jacket (this is to be expected, of course), but Hank Pym…Michael Douglas’ character in the film…in a differently styled Ant-Man suit as well.
In comic mythology, Pym was the original ‘Ant-Man’ as well as being the inventor of technology which made Ant-Man's abilities possible. Based on what we know of the movie thus far, Pym appears to something of a mentor to Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang character - who (with the help of Pym’s tech) assumes the role of the titular hero. This LEGO set, however, would suggest that Rudd/Lang might not be the only Ant-Man in the movie?
There is, of course, a margin for error here: LEGO sets of this nature sometimes hinge on specialized scenarios which aren’t on-book with what actually unfolds on-screen. This said, I can’t recall a circumstance where a LEGO set which so pointedly adapts a specific sequence altered that scene's narrative this dramatically, so it seems a good bet we might actually see Douglas’ Pym as Ant-Man in at least one sequence of this movie. Maybe? Probably?
We’ll find out when ANT-MAN opens July 17.
