Four notes on “Nacho,” tonight’s excellent “Better Call Saul”:
1) There’s more of ex-cop Mike Ehrmantraut tonight than in the prior two episodes combined.
2) I absolutely love what they do with Mike tonight.
3) Michael Mando, the guy who plays Nacho Varga, is awesome.
4) The ending of the tonight’s episode brilliantly pays off a scene from early in the first “Saul” episode.
“Better Call Saul” was last Monday’s top cable show, pulling a rating “Mad Men” or “The Killing” or “Halt and Catch Fire” or “Low Winter Sun” or “Turn” or “Hell on Wheels” could only dream about. (Note that even “Breaking Bad” never did better than a 1.5 before its final eight episodes aired.)
Oof! While “The Bachelor” hit a season high, things did not go well for “The Apprentice” or “Sleepy Hollow” last Monday.
“Gotham,” already renewed for next season, hit another series low with its second Scarecrow episode last week.
