A few weeks ago we got a look at the new cast of THUNDERBIRDS, the practical/CGI hybrid reinvention of Gerry Anderson’s beloved 60s Supermarionation series.
Here’ a reel of model work from the new show, which debuts soon on ITV.
These miniature settings come to us from the folks over at the Weta visual effects group (THE HOBBIT and LORD OF THE RINGS films, the recent GODZILLA movie, the upcoming MAD MAX: FURY ROAD), who’ve gone through painstaking efforts to preserve the style and vibe of this series’ source material. I believe is the same footage - or a derivation of the footage - which was screened at San Diego Comic Con last year. If you’ve any love for, or interest in, THUNDERBIRDS whatsoever, the quality and intent of work here is rather astonishing.
