Here’s a teaser for LEGO’s forthcoming JURASSIC WORLD videogame, due this June.
Although its title notably pings the moniker of the newest film in the big-screen franchise (due in theaters June 12), this game evidently/adapts encompasses the other films in the cycle as well. So, it’s more a celebration of the whole shebang - which is a smart and welcomed move.
While LEGO has, without a doubt, generated some games that could probably be called legitimately brilliant (LEGO MARVEL SUPERHEROES, for example), their last few entries have felt a tad unfocused and wobbly. Their HOBBIT game was fine but nothing to write home about, LEGO BATMAN 3 has great moments but is never wholly great (it feels very much like a chore at times). And, disturbingly and ironically, their game adaptation of THE LEGO MOVIE came up bewilderingly short and shallow. Dare I say, it even felt like a knock-off?
Hopefully JURASSIC WORLD will break this recent downward trend. And, with recent news that LEGO will soon be issuing official DOCTOR WHO product, perhaps my once silly dream of getting a LEGO DOCTOR WHO game is inching closer to fruition? Again, though, I do hope they arrest the recent slide should they ever dare to tackle such a herculean feat.
Here’s a look at JURASSIC WORLD…
