Behold The Cast Of The Newly Updated THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO!!

Here’s a new look at the upcoming, revamped THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO! series.

Says an ITV press issuance on the matter…

Thunderbirds Are Go new-look Tracy brothers are F.A.B.

ITV today released an exclusive preview of the new-look Tracy brothers from this year’s hotly anticipated new series, Thunderbirds Are Go.

The picture features the brothers, [L-R] Scott, Virgil, Alan, Gordon and John in front of their home; the exotic Tracy Island.

The action packed reboot has been produced using a unique mix of CGI animation and live-action model sets to deliver a new level of action-adventure animation whilst also paying tribute to the classic 1960’s phenomenon.

The re-invention of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson’s iconic series will star Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl, Pride and Prejudice) as Lady Penelope and original cast member David Graham who reprises his role as Parker.

Other star voices will include Kayvan Novak (Fonejacker, Facejacker) as inventor Brains and Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Game of Thrones, Love Actually) voicing John Tracy.

The major new children’s series - a co-production between ITV Studios and Pukeko Pictures in association with world-famous Weta Workshop (The Lord of the Rings, Avatar) - is set to debut internationally in Spring 2015 in the UK exclusively on ITV and CITV.

THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO! cast

The show updates Gerry Anderson’s iconic Supermarination from the 60s using modern technologies, and no small amount of affection for its progenitor material.  I saw some vehicle and setting designs from this updating at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con.  Definitely a tad more steroidal and ‘current,’ but very, very evocative of…and faithful to…the aesthetic and vibe of the original show.  I think THUNDERBIRDS loyalists will be impressed.

Can we ever get used to the goony CGI faces seen above?  Well, it took many folks a while to adjust to THE CLONE WARS aesthetic - and once we did, the show soared to amazing heights and the characters grew tremendously.  So, yeah, I think we’ll adapt…

A teaser for THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO! hit not too long ago.  In case you missed it, here it is
