It’s been almost eight months since Edgar Wright left ANT-MAN but he didn’t dwell on it, as his next film just secured funding and distribution and a lead actor. Variety is reporting that Ansel Elgort, (THE FAULT IN OUR STARS) is in talks to star in BABY DRIVER, which Sony will distribute.
Edgar Wright is writing and directing BABY DRIVER and Variety broke down the basic premise of the film:
"Plot follows a talented, young getaway driver who relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best in the game. But after being coerced into working for a crime boss, he must face the music when a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom."
It was a real bummer when Wright left ANT-MAN but it’s nice to see him line something up so fast. He hasn’t let me down so far and this is an original film that probably won’t see much studio interference, so this will probably work out better for all of us.
