Coming off of a career performance and likely Oscar nomination for his role in BIRDMAN, Michael Keaton seems to be in high demand, as evidenced by Deadline's report that he is final discussions to join the cast of Jordan Vogt-Roberts' (not Neil Marshall as I originally said, oops) KONG: SKULL ISLAND. This will only be his second high profile live action project since BATMAN RETURNS in 1992 (and hopefully this is more deserving of his talent than ROBOCOP was).
This is pretty great news, and another excellent addition to the SKULL ISLAND cast, which already includes J.K. Simmons and Tom Hiddleston. Legendary seems to be going for actors with a lot of charisma and not just the handsome action stars. Even if you aren’t excited for another KONG tale, this announced cast, and approach should be enough to get any film fan excited.
KONG: SKULL ISLAND is currently set to be released on March 10th, 2017.
