When we last saw Alison, she had just boned her fat diner boss and was boarding a train as her husband as Noah looked on.
As tonight’s episode begins, we find Noah back where we met him, in the public swimming pool. We learn quickly he and Helen are still separated.
But don’t cry too much for Noah. Tonight’s season finale of “The Affair” makes terrific use of The Animals’ “It’s My Life.”
A big meeting interrupts at least two surfing excursions.
Noah’s segment ends on a tense note.
There’s a scene in the Alison segment that Alison does not appear in. In it, we learn something surprising about the bearded detective.
Do we learn who killed Scotty? No! It’s achingly obvious Showtime intended to order a second season all along, because there’s no way viewers (or, frankly, showrunner Sarah Treem) would tolerate tonight’s installment as a series finale.
