Los Angeles will be the setting of AMC’s new 
pilot set in the same television universe as “The Walking Dead.”
This assumes “Walking Dead II,” which is not overseen by current “Walking Dead” showrunner Scott Gimple, is greenlit to series. Right now only its pilot has been given a go.
Though the original “Walking Dead” is the highest-rated series on television (its last new episodes scored a 7.6 in the key 18-49 demo), a similar zombie series on Syfy, “Z Nation,” garners a much smaller audience (the last new “Z” episode scored a 0.5 in that demo).
It might also be helpful to remember that while “Once Upon A Time” is one of ABC’s bigger hits, spin-off “Once Upon A Time In Wonderland” tanked badly. Also, Simon Cowell’s “X Factor” was cancelled when its ratings fell well short of those of Cowell’s earlier show “American Idol.”
While Georgia-set “Walking Dead” is shot in Georgia, we don’t yet know if the L.A. version will be shot in Vancouver or Montreal.
