At BNAT, when a filmmaker attends, the unspoken rule is not to bother them about their job or get all googly-eyed and fanboyish. They're there for the same reason the rest of us are: to enjoy movies, talk about them with friends, and have a good time. I didn't get much chance to visit with Jordan Vogt-Roberts at BNAT this year, but it was very much a pleasure to see him, as this was his first BNAT. I can't wait to see what he has in store with KONG: SKULL ISLAND, and I envy him the chance to play in that sandbox.
That sandbox just got a hell of a toy, as according to Deadline J. K.Simmons has joined the cast with Tom Hiddleston. Kong and the monsters of Skull Island better get ready for the man, unless he's playing a monster, which would actually be pretty incredible. No word on who Simmons is playing yet. WHIPLASH is an incredible movie, and Simmons gives probably the best performance of the year in it. I have no doubt he'll bring those same skills to KONG: SKULL ISLAND.
