Are you ready for the 23 JUMP STREET/MEN IN BLACK combo-sequel!?!

Hey Yo, Draven here.

This morning, The Wall Street Journal published a report that Sony was planning on combining the MEN IN BLACK and 21 JUMP STREET franchises. It sounded unbelievable at first, but they of course got this information from e-mails that were leaked after the massive Sony hack last week. Specifically, they are e-mails between Jonah Hill and the head of Sony’s film department, Amy Pascal:

In an e-mail to Ms. Pascal, Mr. Hill says “jump street merging with mib i think that’s clean and rad and powerful.”

In another e-mail, Hannah Minghella, a president of production for Sony’s Columbia Pictures label, says of the joint sequel, “We don’t have a script yet so we’ll be greenlighting the movie off the concept and the talent involved.”

So it’s going to be a 22 JUMP STREET sequel that will take place in the same world as the three MEN IN BLACK films. (Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are not expected to be a part of this project.) I just wonder if they are planning on going PG-13 like the MEN IN BLACK films, or a hard-R like the JUMP STREET films?

Beyond that, I actually think that this sounds like a much better idea than 23 JUMP STREET or a reboot of MEN IN BLACK. Jenko and Schmidt would pretty much fit into any buddy formula (as the end credits to 22 JUMP STREET showed) so it would be a lot more fun and interesting to see them in different situations than just being undercover for another film. Let them kick some alien ass! This could be really cool if it happens.
