I'd figured we'd heard all the big-name cast members providing voices for Pixar's upcoming INSIDE OUT, but it looks like I was wrong.
To voice the parents of our central character, the 11-year-old Riley, Pete Docter and Pixar have enlisted Diane Lane and Kyle MacLachlan. Superman's mom and Skye's dad (for you AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. fans out there). Also costars from MAD DOG TIME (a meh movie with a fantastic cast).
I didn't think Riley's parents would have that big of a part to play in this story, which is primarily concerned with the inner workings of the young girl's brain, but the fact that Lane and MacLachlan will be voicing the characters suggests otherwise. We also know that we'll be getting a peek at their respective inner lives, with MacLachlan's dad's brain functioning like a military war room and Lane's mom envisioning her emotions conversing like THE VIEW inside her heard. Sounds cool.
I'm a big fan of both actors, so their presence in what seems like a surefire hit only makes me more excited for Pixar's latest. It's not hard to imagine them playing genial, warm-hearted American parents (as if they both haven't done that already), and hopefully they get to inject a little extra something into their roles.
Am I the only one more excited for this than any Pixar film in years??
