Jonah Hill and Miles Teller sub in for Jesse Eisenberg and Shia Labeouf in Todd Phillips' ARMS AND THE DUDES!

So Jesse Eisenberg and Shia Labeouf had been lined up to play the leads in Todd Phillips based-on-a-true-story buddy comedy ARMS AND THE DUDES. But the project got delayed, and the two guys had to drop out, so that's not happening.

Apparently before Phillips and Warner Bros went to Eisenberg, they had Jonah Hill penciled in for the lead, but he couldn't fit it into his schedule. Now that they're shooting in the spring, the same delay that knocked Eisenberg out (very possibly due to a reappearance as Lex Luthor in SUICIDE SQUAD) has allowed Hill to come back onboard.

For Hill's co-conspirator in the $300 million arms deal the film centers around, it looks like WB has to Young Mr. Fantastic himself, Miles Teller.

I can't imagine either Shia or Teller is neccessarily happy with yet another association between the two, but Teller is obviously carving his own path as an actor with his gamechanging roles in THE SPECTACULAR NOW and WHIPLASH. He hasn't had a mainstream leading man role yet (though that will quickly change once FANTASTIC FOUR's out), and I could see the young actor doing wonders co-leading a manic buddy-comedy (particularly one with this fascinating of a background…seriously, read here.

Phillips, Hill, Teller, and this story seem like they could make for a fun, ridiculous action-comedy, and I'm hoping for the director's sake that this one pops off in the way that his post-OLD SCHOOL, non-HANGOVER movies have struggled to do (though I'll admit, DUE DATE is my personal favorite of the filmmaker's filmography…gotta be some TBers that back me up on this!).
