New Director Announced for THE CROW!

Hey guys! Horrorella here...

It sounds like the long-gestating reboot of THE CROW might be tip-toeing closer to reality. We've been hearing rumblings on the project for years, with various directors attached to the project, and a new script coming from Cliff Dorman  The project was last in the hands of director F. Javier Gutierrez, who left the project to direct the next installment in THE RING series (though, he will still be attached as a producer).

According to Deadline, video director Corin Hardy will be taking over directorial duties when the film goes into production in the spring. Hardy made his feature film debut with THE HALLOW, and action flick set for release next year. He might be new on the scene, but he also comes with the endorsement of none other than Edgar Wright, who personally recommended him to producer Edward R. Pressman. So if it's good enough for Edgar, I absolutely have hope.

It sounds like the project is moving forward with Dorfman's script, which, at one point, was shaping up to be closer to James O'Barr's graphic novel, and not a direct remake of the 1994 film directed by Alex Proyas. Personally, that's the way I would like to see it go. There is plenty of room to tell  O'Barr's story without encroaching on the territory of Proyas and star Brandon Lee.

Luke Evans was the latest actor to be discussed for the role of Eric Draven, though his continued involvement in the project is uncertain at this point. If production actually does move forward in the spring, we should be hearing casting confirmations before too long.

What do you guys think? Is it time for a remake of THE CROW to actually happen? Do you trust the material to a well-endorsed newcomer?
