A trailer placing the final chapter of THE HOBBIT into the greater Tolkien Legacy emerges!

Hey folks, Harry here... I've been absent of late from much of the goings on with AICN in the last two months.  News will be coming shortly on the second season of the show.  At least that's what I'm being told.  In addition, I've been working on programming BNAT, working on a film project that will be revealed eventually and then...  I've just been trying to handle a host of behind the scenes issues that thankfully meant no interuption of service with AICN.   I applaud the team here at AICN for doing a great job.  I will catch up on the missing Picks & Peeks columns by year's end, and next week I'll return to the weekly installments.

As much as I enjoyed the trailer for JURASSIC WORLD... there's something about this THE HOBBIT LEGACY trailer that hits an even deeper geek spot.  Right now, there's a lot of folks that are critical of THE HOBBIT films because they're not nearly as "child like" as the original great novel, but they're also not entirely connective to the world of THE LORD OF THE RINGS...   yet.   This final chapter will most likely change that from what I'm hearing.   A few years ago, Elijah Wood told me he'd seen the end of this final film, surely that was in animatic form, but he was absolutely flabbergasted by how THE HOBBIT wraps up.

I didn't press for details, because... frankly...  I trust those awesomely crazy folks in New Zealand that have given so much screen life to what had always been texts and paintings in my mind.   When I first began my conversations with Peter Jackson back in the latter 1990s, it bothered me that he was beginning with THE LORD OF THE RINGS, as the years went by and the legal situation with THE HOBBIT being as difficult as what has played out for all of us...  I got it.   He had to do LORD OF THE RINGS first, but in making the films that way - and specifically with Peter Jackson helming this story, it has become increasingly evident that he wanted to more directly tie this earlier tale to the tone of THE LORD OF THE RINGS - and all of that... depends upon THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF FIVE ARMIES.

Many can't see the point in the expansion of this classic tale, for me, I can't imagine Peter handling it any other way.   It always bothered me how completely useless the dwarves were in THE HOBBIT, when Gimli was the fucking awesome killer of evil he was in LOTR.   THE BATTLE OF FIVE ARMIES is the part of THE HOBBIT, I've always dreamt of seeing.   For me, this is legend stuff.   I can't wait to see just how insane it gets.   I mean, if the barrels in the river were as crazy visceral awesome as they were....  that was nothing in the books.   This... this could be just flabbergastingly badass.   I choose to believe, because I've been very happy all along with this series.  I mean... if we just get to see Sauron turning Saruman.... HOLY SHIT MAN!   That'll be astonishing.   If.   Man I hope to see that!   Here's the Legacy spot:

See...  doesn't that give you a wicked boner for this flick?
