The cast and crew of David Goyer’s “Constantine” learned Monday that NBC won’t be ordering any more first-season episodes beyond its initial 13-episode order.
But. Though ratings are sad (it is NBC’s lowest-rated show on Friday nights and was soundly trounced by both “20/20” and “Blue Bloods” at 10 p.m. this Friday), NBC is apparently not ruling out ordering a second season.
John Constantine is an amazing comic book character. Better TV writers could turn “Constantine” into an amazing show, assuming this first season didn’t already scare too many viewers away.
No word on what NBC will use to fill the “Constantine” timeslot early next year, but the smart money is on season three of the much-better-reviewed “Hannibal.”
