Ladies and gentlemen, your 2015 HATEFUL EIGHT!

The cast of Tarantino's THE HATEFUL EIGHT have begun rehearsing the dialogue-heavy western before heading out to shoot in Colorado next month, and Samuel L. Jackson has enthusiastically provided us with our first shots of this group via his Twitter. Between the two stills, you can see a baseball capped Bruce Dern, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Kurt Russell, Walton Goggins, Michael Madsen, Demian Bichir, Tim Roth, and of course, a mid-motion Mr. Tarantino. Don't be surprised that you're not seeing Channing Tatum taking part in these rehearsals: his character (if I'm correct in my presumption) isn't part of the titular HATEFUL EIGHT, doesn't have nearly the screentime or complexity of the rest of the cast, and probably doesn't require any extreme prep from the actor.

No one's in costume or anything (though Madsen's not going to have to radically alter his look to play Joe Gage), but it's great to see these guys in one place ready to master some Tarantino poetry. I'm a junebug in July over the idea that QT brought over most of his cast directly over from the live-read, and I'm nearly frothing with anticipation over seeing what he's gonna do with them (and the Robert Richardson 70mm photography) over the course of the next few months.

I'm liking that grizzly beard on Russell. Perfect for grizzled, tough-as-nails bounty hunter John Ruth.

Finally, here's a shot of Samuel L. Jackson practicing his skills on a…nag, I believe was the expression he used in DJANGO?

THE HATEFUL EIGHT find shelter late next year.
