Relativity is ready to take you back to Eel Marsh House with THE WOMAN IN BLACK 2. The sequel to the successful film starring Daniel Radcliffe is jumping forward in time a bit, taking place during the second World War. A group of school children seek and their teacher (Helen McCrory) seek refuge in the abandoned house after fleeing the the bombings of London.
The first trailer relied pretty heavily on a series of jump scares, but this one seems to be a bit more reserved. While those moments were certainly a part of the first film, what really made it hit home was the great use of sound design and the atmosphere set up within the walls of the strange old house. It employed jump scares when necessary, but it didn't fully rely on them, which really helped to build the story out and make it richer. I'm hoping that this film uses that tactic as well.
THE WOMAN IN BLACK 2 hits theaters on January 2nd.
