I am – Hercules!!

Deadline is reporting that four actresses have been invited to test for the lead role in the 13-episode Marvel/Netflix “Jessica Jones,” which follows a superhero who decides to open her own detective agency.

Likely the most famous of the contenders, Krysten Ritter had a memorable role as Jesse Pinkman’s addict girlfriend in “Breaking Bad” before she moved on to the title role in the short-lived ABC sitcom “Don’t Trust The Bitch.” On the big screen she’s appeared in “27 Dresses,” “She’s Out Of My League,” “Veronica Mars” and the upcoming Tim Burton feature “Big Eyes.”

Alexandra Daddario appeared in four episodes of True Detective as a lust-interest for Woody Harrelson’s married character. She appeared appeared in five episodes of “Parenthood” as a lust-interest for Peter Krause’s married character. On the big screen she appeared in “The Babysitters” and “Hall Pass” and played Annabeth in both Percy Jackson movies.

Teresa Palmer played the female leads in 1960s period drama “Love and Honor” and zombie dramedy “Warm Bodies.” Her other big-screen credits include “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,” “I Am Number Four,” “Bedtime Stories,” “Take Me Home Tonight.”

Jessica De Gouw has superhero experience, having recurred as Helena “The Huntress” Bertinelli in four episodes of “Arrow.” She also played the lead female role of Mina Murray in NBC’s “Dracula.”

Fellow superhero and love interest Luke Cage is expected to appear in half the “Jessica Jones” episodes before he takes center stage in his own eponymous 13-episode series and subsequent 13-episode series “The Defenders” (which would team Cage and Jones with Daredevil and Iron Fist). Deadline has two contenders for the Cage role as well:

Lance Gross played Calvin Payne in 109 episodes of Tyler Perry’s “House of Payne” before he moved on to secret service agent Marcus Finley on NBC’s short-lived kidnap drama “Crisis.”

Mike Colter played Will Smith’s dad in “Men in Black 3” and Mike in “Zero Dark Thirty.” He also appeared in 16 episodes of the Sarah Michelle Gellar drama “Ringer,” 15 episodes of “The Good Wife” and five episodes of “The Following."

These versions of Jones and Cage will occupy the same onscreen universe that houses Phil Coulson, Peggy Carter, Nick Fury, Bruce Banner, Natasha Romanoff, Tony Stark, Matt Murdoch, Thor, Drax, Quicksilver, etc. etc. etc.
