The marketing for JURASSIC WORLD has really started kicking.
If you visit JurassicWorld.com, you will find a timer counting down to Thanksgiving (currently 10 days away), when the first trailer for the film will debut at 9 PM EST/ 8 PM CT. There's also some really cool background art, including images of people rolling around in bubble-like gyrocarts (looking sorta like The "It" from SOUTH PARK) right alongside the dinos; hopefully these can take a charging T-rex snout head-on better than those old automated Jeeps.
In the top-right corner, you'll see an ad for Masrani, the fictional company (headed up by Irrfan Khan's Simon Masrani) that took over Isla Nublar from John Hammond and InGen. Click on it and you'll visit a viral site that gives you a ton of background and images on the background of this apparently 10-years-old JURASSIC WORLD. You get a mission statement, some progress reports, and even a picture of B.D Wong's Dr. Henry Wu, brought over from InGen as a consultant.
There's a bunch there to establish Masrani as a real-life company, and to legitimize the prospect of a functioning, long-open JURASSIC WORLD. Given that we'll be seeing a lot more of this movie when the trailer comes in a week and a half, this is a great way to officially open the door to anticipation and fanboy speculation. There's some really cool stuff hidden away on this viral site, including the allusion to a Siberian expedition to snag wooly mammoth DNA(!!).
All of this is looking really, really cool. If the STARSHIP TROOPERS voice asked "Would you like to know more?" my answer would be a resounding "Yes!"
