Sion Sono isn't for everyone, but if you see his films and fall in love, congratulations, you're kinda awesome. I saw TOKYO TRIBE at Fantastic Fest as was utterly blown away, and while I haven't seen all his films, you can be assured that I will. There is such a joy to cinema in Sono's work, and experiencing them in the theater, with fellow fans, is one of the best gifts a film fan can give his or herself.
WHY DON'T YOU PLAY IN HELL is scheduled for release by Drafthouse Films (the perfect studio for it, really) and it hits theaters tomorrow. With all the big budget films opening this weekend, if it's playing in your neck of the woods, it might be nice to see a gangster crime film about the love of cinema. Here's the trailer:
