Things are certainly looking grim in the new trailer for THE GAMBLER. Mark Wahlberg plays a college professor who gets in too deep with the wrong people over a gambling debt, and then all hell breaks loose.
Where the first teaser had a tense but exciting rhythm to it, this one taps into the exhaustion and desperation that Wahlberg's character is feeling as this lifestyle and its corresponding stressors continues to take its toll. He seems well aware of the nature of his situation, but isn't panicking. And not because he is the badass who has the situation well in-hand, but because the years have worn him down and he is completely out of fucks to give.
The film is the latest from director Rupert Wyatt (RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES), from a script by THE DEPARTED scribe William Monahan. It hits theaters on December 19th.
