I’m a big fan of Neill Blomkamp’s work. DISTRICT 9 spectacularly nailed what he was attempting to accomplish; ELYSIUM hit far from the mark but was interesting and occasionally arresting all the same.
As such, I’m very curious to see what he has in store for us with CHAPPIE, which opens March 6.
Here’s the first poster for the film, which stars Hugh Jackman, Sigourney Weaver, and Blomkamp perennial Sharlto Copley. The plot for the film is something along the lines of: an AI/robot is stolen by gangsters who attempt to use him for ‘nefarious purposes.’ Which sounds workable and amusing…in principle.
We’ll see soon enough - March 6 is right around the corner.
