Jill Blotvogel (“Eureka,” “Ravenswood”) will serve as showrunner, having rewritten MTV’s original “Scream” pilot by “Matador” co-creators Jay Beattie and Dan Dworkin.
The original “Scream” movie and two of its sequels were written by Kevin Williamson, who created CBS’ “Stalker” and Fox’s serial killer drama “The Following.”
Grown-ups cast in the series include Tracy Mittendorf (Darien Chandler on “The Last Ship,” Babette on “Boardwalk Empire”) and Joel Gretsch (“The 4400,” “V”) as Sheriff Clark Hudson.
MTV still plays music videos if you tune in early enough, but it’s also found success with the horror series “Teen Wolf,” now in its fourth season.
