While Hollywood vampire films have been languishing, you can still look just outside of the spotlight for some really amazing genre fiction. And A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE at night is a film that has piqued the interest of film fans across the globe, in a big bad way.

From Iranian director Ana Lily Amirpour, the film was highly praised at Sundance, and is making its way to theaters beginning November 21st. Billed as "the First Iranian Vampire Western," the film tells the story of a vampire stalking the streets of an Iranian ghost town. The trailer is absolutely gorgeous, showcasing a beautifully stylized film from a massive variety of influences - iconic horror, spaghetti westerns, graphic novels, film noir, rock and roll, all brought together into one unique story.

Check out the trailer. This will definitley be one to watch for in the coming months.

Strange things are afoot in Bad City. The Iranian ghost town, home to prostitutes, junkies, pimps and other sordid souls, is a bastion of depravity and hopelessness where a lonely vampire stalks its most unsavory inhabitants. Cinema’s first Iranian vampire western, Ana Lily Amirpour’s debut feature basks in the sheer pleasure of pulp. A joyful mash-up of genre, archetype, and iconography, its prolific influences span spaghetti westerns, graphic novels, horror films, and the Iranian New Wave. Amped by a mix of Iranian rock, techno, and Morricone-inspired riffs, its airy, anamorphic, black-and-white aesthetic and artfully drawn-out scenes combine the simmering tension of Sergio Leone with the weird surrealism of David Lynch.
