Herc’s Seen Showtime’s Third Episode Of THE AFFAIR!! Mary Lynn Rajskub and Slash On TALKING!!

Unlike “Homeland,” Showtime’s excellent “The Affair” (from “In Treatment” writer Sarah Treem) never makes Sunday’s top 100 cable-show chart; it deserves much more attention. Tonight’s installment delves deeper into the story of Ruth Wilson’s character (it turns out she’s not really a waitress) and into the troubled history of the Long Island beach town. I can’t get enough of this show.

Don’t feel bad, World Series! Regular old NFL games also beat “The Walking Dead” last week.

“Brooklyn Nine-Nine” did just as well as the new episode of “Family Guy” last week but “The Simpsons” beat them both by a mile.

“Mulaney” was again the lowest-rated show on the Big Four last Sunday. Fox cut the show’s order and told the sitcom to cease production, so that show is toast.

I am told Adam Carolla’s “Catch A Contractor” hit an all-time high on Spike last Sunday with last week’s hilarious girth-mocking episode. I much prefer the show’s new hourlong format, which features more of Carolla’s precision insults than the half-hour episodes did.
