Hey guys! Horrorella here...
Paramount has released an entertaining red-band trailer to promote their remake of THE GAMBLER, and it's pretty damn fun. Mark Wahlberg stars as a college professor/gambler who gets in way over his head when he borrows money from the wrong guy (Michael Kenneth Williams). The film is the latest directorial effort from Rupert Wyatt, (RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES). The script was adapted by William Monahan, who also wrote THE DEPARTED.
This teaser doesn't give a ton of plot details away, but does show some pretty awesome moments between Wahlberg and costar John Goodman, a loan shark and mentor to Wahlberg's character, trying to clue him in on some of the tougher lessons of life.
THE GAMBLER opens in limited release on December 19, and goes wider on January 5th.
What do you guys think?

Both an English professor and a high-stakes gambler, Bennett bets it all when he borrows from a gangster (Michael Kenneth Williams) and offers his own life as collateral. Always one step ahead, Bennett pits his creditor against the operator of a gambling ring (Alvin Ing) and leaves his dysfunctional relationship with his wealthy mother (Academy Award®-winner Jessica Lange) in his wake. He plays both sides, immersing himself in an illicit, underground world while garnering the attention of Frank (John Goodman), a loan shark with a paternal interest in Bennett’s future. As his relationship with a student (Brie Larson) deepens, Bennett must take the ultimate risk for a second chance…
