So, Back In The Day, Young Max Landis Scripted A 7 Hour SUPER MARIO WORLD Movie…

When he was in his late teens, Max Landis, scripter of Josh Trank’s CHRONICLE and the forthcoming James McAvoy/Daniel Radcliffe FRANKENSTEIN movie (which’ll be directed by frequent SHERLOCK helmer Paul McGuigan), wrote a movie based upon the SUPER MARIO WORLD video game.

But it wasn't just a SUPER MARIO WORLD movie.  It was…I’m not sure what to call it…a Nintendogasm splashed all over a computer keyboard?  It had Funky Kong, Kirby, Donkey Kong, and it’s 435 pages long.

That’s a 7 hour movie, more or less.

And it comes with concept art, too.

Part exercise in madness, part Geektastic fever dream, Landis’ SUPER MARIO WORLD is something unlike anything I’ve come across in nearly two decades of Nerdly adventures and explorations on the Internet.  And he has now posted it for all of us to behold.

Be sure to look through Landis' lengthy introduction, which goes out of its way to re-assure readers that the script really does suck as much as it appears to, and to disembowel the technical proficiency of his work.

I question whether a lot of you even got through this prologue without wandering off to check facebook, twitter, your texts, or even have just abandoned it entirely.

Good. Good for you. This is an artifact. It might be cursed. Save yourself while there's still time.

Abandon all hope ye who enter here.

Of course, for many of us, there can be no more appealing an invitation.  Kinda like hearing how fucked up TROLL 2 is, but needing to experience it for ourselves.  Which I did for the first time last night, but that's a different story.

So dive right in
