Via IndieWire comes this look at MAGICIAN: THE ASTONISHING LIFE AND WORK OF ORSON WELLES, a new documentary chronicling the artistry and industry experiences of its titular subject.
This one’s from Chuck Workman, who is perhaps best known for the amazing montages he creates for Oscar telecasts. He does, however, have something like 25 directorial credits to his name as well - covering a variety of topics. Considering Workman’s background, and the utterly fascinating subject matter he’s focusing on this time around, the results here oughta be nothing short of compelling.
If I’m understanding correctly, MAGICIAN will make a brief and limited theatrical bow later this year to qualify for Oscar consideration. I’ve heard nothing about the picture’s formal release, but I’d bet good money on a distribution via digital platforms in fairly short order.
Can’t wait.
