Sometimes it's a bit weird how something comes to you, ain't it. But last night I went
to visit a friend that runs a theater here in town that was showing TITANIC. Robogeek
was tagging along making strange noises as we approached the 'shrine' he calls it. He is
quite grateful to know a projectionist, for Free showings is the only thing keeping him
completely out of poverty row.

Well, as I was watching the last reel, I felt myself being pulled toward Kate. No, it
wasn't RoboGeek. Instead it was a curiosity. I was pouring over her face and character
thinking... What Next? I mean, sheesh, she has just made the biggest romance epic since
Dr Zhivago and Gone with the Wind, and now well... what does she do?

That's why I was watching her. I was pouring through all the scripts I know of in
development and thinking. Kate? no. Kate? no. Kate? no. Kate? no Kate? no. Kate? no
Kate? no. Kate? YES!

What was the 'YES!' ? Well, it's this little script, I think I mentioned before with
Renee Zellweger as the lead I thought was perfect. It's called, "MY LIFE AS A GIRL." I
believe I used a 'Better than My Bestfriend's Wedding' line. And somewhere in the mix I
heard Julia heard. Well, she isn't quite PERFECT for this part. Renee is, maybe even
Julianna Marguiles, but then in a much better way, KATE is the absolute perfect person
for this project.

Why?

Well, she hasn't made this movie yet. As an actress who prides herself on playing
characters of far reaching diversity, she hasn't played this emotionally insecure, yet strong
as nails baseball pitching woman on the search for that... lifelong partner. Ok, it's much
better than that. The script by Kim Krizan (remember the beautiful and loving Before
Sunrise) had me in stitches. It's a funny as hell poignant tale for a strong female actress.

The pluses would be the chance to pit Kate opposite several young leading men.
There's about 5 male supporting characters of varying types. Everything from a Ben
Kingsley/Gandhi worshipper to a High School Erection to a Pre-Operative Transvestite.
Wow, so let's see. You could have Ethan Hawke, Joaquin Phoenix and David Duchovney
reprising his Twin Peaks Transvestite. (just kidding, David, stay away)

Also, it's modern day. Kate wouldn't have to wear a bustier, she could do romance
TIMES 5!!!! I have heard her agent has been griping about all these period pieces... well
here's the chance. Leap... take it... Now.

Ok ok, it doesn't have a director. Hmmmmm. Just a sec, let me call up RoboGeek.
He has online access while I type. (yes, I am petty)

Personally upon making a short list, which includes P.J. Hogan, Penny Marshall, Nora
Ephron and Diane Keaton... I'd have to go with Penny Marshall. Why? Well, this is the
project that would get her back to her BIG, AWAKENINGS, LEAGUE OF THEIR
OWN style hits, and out of the doldrums of Renaissance Man (which I actually HAD to
have Robo look up in IMDB cause I couldn't remember the title) and ... The Preacher's
Wife, which soundtrack excluded was a bore. Penny could do wonders with this material.
There is a perfect role for her best friend Rosie as GOD, which would delight millions of
Rosie watchers (Robo is panting)

It's a cheap film, with big hit as a looming possibility if the right people... see above.
Were attached. When I hear of all the weak parts there are for women, and I see this
material not in production, I can just shake my head. It's not the writers, it's the readers.
They ain't reading the right projects. POINT POINT POINT THIS IS A RIGHT
PROJECT!!!
