Robert Redford swears he saw a dragon!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I think maybe I got into a car accident or something and am in some kind of blissful coma where my life is an illusion, filled with things just made specifically for me. We have new, kick-ass looking Star Wars movies on the way, Mad Max is coming and looks amazing, somewhere on this earth Guillermo del Toro is developing a Haunted Mansion movie and now Robert Redford is up for the Lampie role in David Lowery's Pete's Dragon remake.

That doesn't make any damn sense, right? I feel like I'm shaping this reality. Wait, I think I'm in the Matrix because my bank account isn't coma-dream awesome, so it's gotta be that I'm supposed to believe this is the real world.

The Matrix-world Variety is reporting that Redford is considering joining Pete's Dragon as "a local who tells tall tales about a dragon that nobody believes," which is straight up Mickey Rooney's Lampie character.

The article says that Lowery's version is set against a woodland backdrop instead of a New England fishing community and is focused around loggers cutting down the forest home of Elliot and young orphaned Pete.

Sounds like the villains are now loggers instead of hillbillies, but I'm okay with that.

The flick is aiming to film in New Zealand this fall, another sign that this isn't real life. Pete's Dragon is one of my favorite kids movies, New Zealand is one of my favorite places on Earth and they're looking to cast a man who once bested Robert Shaw in a film. If they tell me Weta's bringing Elliott to life I'll know for sure that some damn computer is using my unconscious body as a battery.
