"How much trouble can one poet be?" Elijah Wood brings Dylan Thomas to the U.S. in this trailer for SET FIRE TO THE STARS!

Elijah Wood's pumping them out at a steady clip these days, but most of the stuff coming out of his SpectreVision production label has been genre-oriented (GRAND PIANO, OPEN WINDOWS, the upcoming COOTIES). But not this one.

SET FIRE TO THE STARS tells the story of John Malcolm Brinnin, who brought acclaimed poet Dylan Thomas to the U.S. a scant 3 years before his death in 1953. Wood plays Brinnin, while co-writer Celyn Jones stars as the enigmatic, alcoholic Thomas.

The trailer (more of a teaser really) shows off the period setting, the slightly-heightened vibe, and some lovely black-and-white photography. This looks more striking and remarkable than the similarly budgeted and intentioned KILL YOUR DARLINGS from last year, and Wood's enthusiasm for this subject matter makes it all the more appealing.

The director, Andy Goddard, has directed five eps of DOWNTON ABBEY (including the Christmas special), so fans of that show have another reason to check this one out.

SET FIRE TO THE STARS in the U.K. on November 7th. U.S. release date has yet to be announced.
