BOND 24 Finds Its ‘Iconic Henchman’!!

A month or two ago we learned that the next James Bond movie was looking to cast “an iconic henchman” - a la Jaws, or Handjob Oddjob.

Via LR comes words that this role has now been filled by GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY’s Dave Bautista.

I’ve previously said here on the site, and Tweeted as well (which apparently makes thoughts *thatmuch* more important these days), that Bautista was the stand-out surprise in GUARDIANS.  His presence was phenomenal and his comedic timing and delivery was spot on — so I’ve no doubt that he’ll play well in the Bond verse.

Bautista is claiming a character previously revealed to be named “Hinx” - although my understanding is this name might change as the production moves forward.  Hinx is a pretty cool name for a Bond baddie, however, so…

In a twisted bit of irrelevant symmetry, Bautista played “Drax” in GUARDIANS.  “Drax” was the name of the villain in the 007 adventure Moonraker back in 1979. As Ace Hunter  might say, “It’s all on the wheel - it all comes around.”

The next Bond film, still untitled and once more helmed by SKYFALL’s Sam Mendes, will release November 2015.
