1998 gave us the Akiva Goldsman-penned “Lost in Space” movie starring Gary Oldman as Dr. Smith, Jared Harris as an adult Will Robinson and a CGI pet for Penny.
In 2004 John Woo directed WB pilot “The Robinsons: Lost in Space” from a teleplay by Doug Petrie (“American Horror Story”). It did not go forward.
A new series version of “Lost In Space” is now in the works from Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. (Sazama and Burk wrote the just-released “Dracula Untold,” which received 17 negative reviews from the 18 “top critics” polled by Rotten Tomatoes.)

The original “Lost in Space,” starring the great Jonathan Harris as Dr. Smith, ran three seasons on CBS between 1965 and 1968.
Have a gander at Woo’s awful WB pilot, which ditched Dr. Smith, added a surly older brother for Will, and starred a 21-year-old pre-“Friday Night Lights” Adrianne Palicki as horny daughter Judy Robinson here.
