THE LEGO MOVIE was just a big bag of unexpected awesome - everything worked more than anyone could have anticipated, making it one of the most fantastic and delightful flicks of the past year. One of the elements that made it so amazing was the inclusion of the Lego Batman character, voiced by Will Arnett. His timing and delivery were stellar, as was the way Phil Lord and Christopher Miller wrote the character. It wound up being one my favorite takes on Batman to date.
And clearly I'm not the only one who things so - THR reports that LEGO BATMAN is being fast-tracked by the studio for a 2017 release date, and taking priority over THE LEGO MOVIE sequel, which is also in production.
Arnett is expected to return to voice the character. Chris McKay, who served as animation supervisor on THE LEGO MOVIE will be directing, while Seth Grahme-Smith will be writing the script. Lord and Miller will be on board as producers, along with Roy Lee and Dan Lin.
