Hey guys! Horrorella here...
This might be another to add to your October screening lists. Director Brian Bertino, who helmed 2008’s THE STRANGERS is back with a new film.
MOCKINGBIRD has just been released to VOD, and looks like it might be an interesting experiment in found footage. Rather than a story focusing on events that the characters happened to be filming, this one looks to take on a more sinister approach.
“Three individuals each receive an anonymous, unmarked video camera and a horrific ultimatum to continue filming… or die. Experience the terror through the eyes of these unsuspecting victims, with a chain of found-footage events so real and absolutely dreadful, you’ll have to watch it again to believe it.”
THE STRANGERS was a very solid home invasion piece, and Bertino really demonstrated a firm grasp of tension building. It’s exciting to see him back, and with something so different in subject and in tone. He really seems to be coming from a new direction here - a direction that may not be up your alley if found footage isn't your thing, but given the different approach to the subgenre, it might be worth a shot anyway.
What do you guys think?
