"Sometimes we make better films, sometimes we don't make such good films, but we do make films!" Guns, boobs, and ninjas abound in the trailer for ELECTRIC BOOGALOO: THE WILD, UNTOLD STORY OF CANNON FILMS!

ELECTRIC BOOGALOO, the tale of the Golan/Globus Cannon studios, directed by Mark Hartley (the excellent NOT QUITE HOLLYWOOD), has gotten strong reviews on the festival circuit, and we have our first trailer below.

As a fan of much of Cannon's dubious filmography (including the NINJA series, the DEATH WISHs, and the BREAKIN's), it's nice to see that they are honoring the Golan/Globus model as much as they are poking fun at it; after all, it was working pretty well for a while there, and they are as readily identifiable as "80s" as any other entertainment entity of that era. They gave some great directors (Andrei Konchalovsky, Tobe Hooper, Barbet Schroeder) the chance to make some great, wacky stuff, as well as keeping the grindhouse projectors in practice with flicks like AMERICAN NINJA, CYBORG, MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE and a whole slew of Chuck Norris and Charles Bronson films (some of them actually fun). It sounds too good to be true to walk through the history of Cannon, guided by the cast & crew who worked on these features, but it seems that's what Hartley has pushed himself to get out there, and we get a taste of this examination below.

The clips of the two central producers are a lot of fun. Can't wait to get more of their uber-confident, pragmatic bravura in the finished film.

ELECTRIC BOOGALOO: THE WILD, UNTOLD STORY OF CANNON FILMS does it better sometime in 2015.
