Behold Proto Forms Of Unaired STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS Episodes!! They’re Canon!!

When the plug was pulled on THE CLONE WARS animated series last year, a few tales were left unfinished (thus were unbroadcast).

The Powers That Be have decided to do a very, very cool thing and release the proto-versions of these episodes for you to see online, right now.

They‘re essentially assembled and made, but not finished.  Yet complete enough so that one can easily glean what the end results of these episodes might’ve been like.

Critically, an explanatory reel reveals that…even in their incomplete form…the narrative developments featured in these installments are considered canon by the STAR WARS team.

So, they matter.

I’ve spent about an hour attempting to get Lucasfilm's embeds to work on our site - no joy.  As such, you can see everything I’m talking about HERE.

I can’t express how giddy I am that this is happening.  Not merely because I like STAR WARS, but because I think such insights into the developmental process of a show are fascinating and under-appreciated.

Just last week, I was commenting that ‘work prints’ of DOCTOR WHO episodes should be included on future Blu-ray or DVD releases.  On the classic BATTLESTAR GALACTICA series, for example, many episodes had substantial quantities of material excised before airing.  Was that material ever, actually,  incorporated into an initial cut?   Might we ever see as much?  The list goes on.

So, hopefully, somewhere, somehow, other entertainment entities will take note of these new CLONE WARS issuances and we’ll see similar material from not only STAR WARS, but other shows, in the future.

Well played…
