Roger Donaldson (THE NOVEMBER MAN, DANTE’S PEEK, THIRTEEN DAYS, NO WAY OUT, and COCKTAIL) looks to be helping a new adaptation of Erich Maria Remarque’s iconic novel ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT. The WWI-centric tale examines the intense effects and aftermath of warfare on German soldiers.
Donaldson will direct from a script by Ian Stokell and Lesley Paterson,
[EDIT]
Donaldson has a personal connection to the material as both of his grandparents fought in Word War I, which began a century ago in 1914.
I’ve always been a fan of Donaldson’s work. THIRTEEN DAYS is pretty great, and I even kind of enjoyed DANTE’S PEEK - a film many people pooped all over (the VFX of the volcano going batty were worth the price of admission alone, I thought). His style and frequent attention to character detail would seem to make him a very, very good fit for this project - I’m interested to see how this comes together.
