By “Justified” standards, the Michael Rapaport-infused fifth season of the FX marshal drama was lackluster, but much hope lurks on the horizon.
“Big Lebowski” icon Sam Elliott will play a former gangster and Colorado legal-marijuana zillionaire named Markham, who returns home to Kentucky to reclaim his old criminal empire and the hand of Katherine Hale (Mary Steenburgen), whom he regards as his one true love.
Garret Dillahunt (“No Country For Old Men,” “Looper,” “12 Years A Slave”), like Walton Goggins, Jacob Pitts, Ron Eldard and an array of other “Justified” actors, will play a veteran of America’s wars in the Middle East. Dillahunt’s special ops vet is expected to lead the private army Markham brings to Lexington.
Dillahunt faced off with Olyphant as two different characters on “Deadwood.”
Other “Deadwood” actors who have joined Olyphant on “Justified” include Gerald McRaney, Jim Beaver, Stephen Tobolowsky, Pruitt Taylor Vince, W. Earl Brown, Brent Sexton, Peter Jason, Channoe Roe, Ray McKinnon and Sean Bridgers.
April’s fifth-season finale suggested the coming sixth and final season would focus on central deputy U.S. marshal Raylan Givens declaring war on criminal mastermind Boyd Crowder.
