With the 40th SNL season premiere less than two weeks away, the #1 late-night franchise has hired ethnically ambiguous comedian Pete Davidson, 20, as cast member.
Davidson has been a regular on MTV’s “Guy Code” and on the 2013 edition of Nick Cannon’s “Wild ‘N Out.” He also appeared opposite Andy Samberg in an October episode of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.”
It was announced over the summer that Nasim Pedrad (who has joined the new Fox sitcom “Mulaney”), Mike O’Brien, Brooks Wheelan, Noel Wells and John Milhiser would no longer be cast members when the show returns Sept. 27.
SNL announced last week that comedian Michael Che would replace Cecily Strong as Weekend Update anchor, thought Strong will remain a member of the cast.
40 years along, SNL gets better ratings than any other post-primetime series and better ratings than 95 perent of all primetime series.
