"She's dead...but I got you a blueberry muffin."A big batch of images and clips from Joe Carnahan's STRETCH! This movie looks awesome!!

Like I said on Tuesday, Joe Carnahan has been undeterred by Universal's demotion from a March theatrical release to an October VOD drop, and has been promoting his STRETCH via the film's official Twitter account. Since then, he's put up a few choice images and clips, which you can see below.

First we got a shot of a crossbow-packing Ed Helms examining a dead hooker in a pink-robed Norman Reedus' bed.

Umm…I didn't even know Reedus was in this…

That second shot is of Carnahan's dad, Woody, who was given special thanks in the director's first three films, and had a small cameo in A-TEAM.

Next you have a trio of short clips straight from the film. The first is a clip called "Double Parked Peckers" with a Patrick Wilson "drops the mic" moment. Second is a hilarious little moment from the Helms/Reedus scene shown above (Reedus is apparently playing himself…magnificent). Lastly we got a freaky, 17 second shot of Chris Pine's character exuding menace using only his character's wacko hairdo and the cork of a scotch bottle.

And finally, we got two looks at some outtakes from the film. The longer video, first posted on Just Jared, is a straight-up gag reel set to some annoying techno music. Some of it's quite funny, and without a trailer, is the most we've seen of the film by a wide margin.

But that second, shorter outtake…my god. Funniest thing I've seen in a while.

Am I the only one who thinks this movie looks kind of excellent? I don't know what I was expecting, but the comic energy we're seeing in these stills and clips is evidence of a bizarre, sharp black comedy that seems both unconventional and wildly appealing. We'll probably infer a reason for Universal's treatment of this film once we actually see it next month, but Carnahan might be selling the film better than the studio ever would have themselves. I don't need to see another trailer, still, or piece of footage; this is now tied with BIRDMAN as my most anticipated October release.

Just for kicks, here's the lone non-STRETCH-related retweet on the film's Twitter account:

STRETCH will premier on VOD sometime next month.
