Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence are teaming up once again. After starring in SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK and AMERICAN HUSTLE for David O. Russell, the two are co-starring in SERENA, from director Susanne Bier (THINGS WE LOST IN FIRE, IN A BETTER WORLD).
This film is an adaptation of the the novel by Ron Rash, and follows a couple building a timber empire in the 1920's. It was actually shot back in 2012, but the release has been delayed, reportedly due to Bier's dedication to perfection, not wanting to rush the process or release the final version until it is absolutely ready.
Apparently, that time is at hand, as the film has a new trailer, along with a U.K. release date of October 24th. Unfortunately, the U.S. release date hasn't been set yet, so we'll be waiting.
North Carolina mountains at the end of the 1920s – George and Serena Pemberton, love-struck newly-weds, begin to build a timber empire. Serena soon proves herself to be equal to any man: overseeing loggers, hunting rattle-snakes, even saving a man’s life in the wilderness. With power and influence now in their hands, the Pembertons refuse to let anyone stand in the way of their inflated love and ambitions. However, once Serena discovers George’s hidden past and faces an unchangeable fate of her own, the Pembertons’ passionate marriage begins to unravel leading toward a dramatic reckoning.
