TV Critics Pick Fox’s GOTHAM As ‘Most Promising New Fall Series’!! And Herc Does Too!!

I am – Hercules!!

Fox’s “Gotham,” the latest hourlong from “Rome” co-creator Bruno Heller, was chosen “most promising new fall series” by the Television Critics Association.

I agree with the TCA.

A look at what James Gordon, Alfred Pennyworth, Oswald Cobblepot, Selina Kyle, Edward Nigma and others were up to around the time Bruce Wayne began sprouting pubic hair, “Gotham” is the best fall pilot I’ve seen this year.

I liked it better than “Green Lantern,” “The Dark Knight Rises” and “Man of Steel.”

I was particularly taken with what the series does with the characters of mob boss Carmine Falcone and corrupt Gotham Police detective Harvey Bullock (played by a surprisingly skinny Donal Logue).

The other new fall shows from DC Comics – Greg Belanti’s “The Flash” and David Goyer’s “Constantine” – did not make any of the TCA’s lists, though the TCA voted “Flash” star Grant Gustin one of three “potential break-out stars.”

(DC Comics’ “iZombie,” from “Cupid”/“Veronica Mars”/“Party Down” mastermind Rob Thomas, is a midseason show and not eligible for the “fall show” categories. Ditto “Marvel’s Agent Carter,” overseen by “Reaper” creators Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas.)

The CW’s “Jane The Virgin” and Showtime’s “The Affair” were the TCA’s picks for second and third most promising fall series, respectively.

The TCA also chose “Gotham” as most promising new fall drama, granting runner up status to “The Affair” and ABC’s “How To Get Away With Murder.”

“Jane The Virgin” was created by Jennie Snyder, who also created The CW’s “Emily Owens MD.”

“The Affair” was created by “In Treatment”/“House of Cards” writer Sarah Treme.

“How To Get Away With Murder” was created by “Grey’s Anatomy”/“Scandal” writer Peter Norwalk.
