Albert Brooks to play mentor to forensic neuropathologist Will Smith in Peter Landesman's flick about concussions in the NFL!

Finally, the FINDING NEMO/SHARK TALE crossover we've all been waiting for!

Seriously, Peter Landesman (PARKLAND) and producer Ridley Scott have landed Albert Brooks to play a crucial supporting role in their docudrama based on the GQ article "Game Brain." The comic born as Albert Einstein will play the mentor to Will Smith's Dr. Bennet Omalu, a forensic neuropathologist who discovered multiple cases of severe brain trauma in deceased NFL players a few years ago.

The flick doesn't have a title yet, but I suspect "Game Brain" may be a bit too on-the-nose for the filmmakers.

Albert Brooks got a huge boost to his dramatic acting career in the wake of DRIVE's success (even if he didn't get that Oscar nom we were all hoping for), and it's awesome to see him landing big roles in these kind of high-pedigree studio dramas. He played a doctor to humorous effect in Sidney Lumet's underrated CRITICAL CARE, but the idea of seeing him as the genial mentor in scrubs, giving advice to Will Smith of all people, makes this flick way, way more appealing.
