UPDATED AGAIN WITH ANOTHER CLIP!! UPDATED with release date info!! Lord knows when we'll see Joe Carnahan's STRETCH, but here's some images (and a short clip) to hold you over!

Universal acquired, then dropped Joe Carnahan's STRETCH, leaving it in its current distributor-free state. However, unlike certain directors (David O. Russell with NAILED, for example) Carnahan refuses to let his homeless baby fall by the wayside, and has been unveiling pics (and a snippet of footage) from the movie about a limo driver and his shady clientele over the past few days via a newly-created Twitter account.

It's hard to imagine a flick with Chris Pine, Brooklyn Decker, Patrick WIlson, Ed Helms, and Jessica Alba would struggle to land distribution, even without a proven talent like Carnahan at the helm, but these are the times we live in I suppose.

Carnahan reportedly shot the flick for under $5 million, so it's not like it'd have to do the moon to turn a profit. And I don't care how "quirky" it is; weirder flicks have been sold on less name value than this one has.

Anyway, these pics look great in that madcap SMOKIN' ACES way we were promised, and after more conventional leading man roles in STAR TREK and JACK RYAN, I'm excited to see Pine getting as crazy as his character appears.

But I honestly can't tell you what the hell this means.

UPDATED (17:15): Apparently, Universal Studios Home Entertainment will be distributing STRETCH via VOD next month. No word as to whether there will be an accompanying theatrical rollout, but the wording of the article doesn't hint as much. Hopefully, at least some of us will get a chance to see Joe Carnahan's latest on a big screen like his work deserves.

UPDATED (18:15): The STRETCH Twitter account just gave us our first look at Ed Helms' "conscience" character via this montage.
