Justin Lin -- director of movie blockbusters “The Fast and the Furious: Toyko Drift,” “Fast & Furious,” “Fast Five” and “Furious Six” – is now expected to direct at least the first two episodes of HBO’s second season of “True Detective.”
Cary Fukunaga, who directed all eight first-season episodes, just won an Emmy for his work on the series. Fukunaga is busy working on the big-screen Idris Elba vehicle “Beasts of No Nation.”
Nick Pizzolatto, the “Killing” vet who wrote all eight episodes of season one, is expected to do the same for season two.
The second season, which moves the action from Louisiana to California and follows a whole new set of characters, may star Colin Ferrell (“Total Recall”), Taylor Kitsch (“Battleship”) and Vince Vaughn (“The Internship”), though HBO as yet confirms nothing.
