We may have the first casualty of the declining speed with which George R.R. Martin is churning out his novels about the Starks, Lannisters, Baratheons and Targaryans.
Kristian Nairn, who plays the dim, hulking Hodor on “Game of Thrones,” told the Australian Broadcast Network’s "7:30" that Hodor will be skipping season five of HBO’s most popular show ever, apparently, because there is not yet more of his print story s to be shot.
With regard to Hodor, the TV show has caught up to 2011’s “A Dance With Dragons,” the fifth and most recent of the Song of Ice and Fire novels on which “Thrones” is based.
It’s been three years since the publication of “Dragons,” and it remains a mystery as to when the sixth novel, “The Winds of Winter,” will hit bookshelves. There was a five year gap between the publications of novels three and four, and a six year gap between novels four and five.
During last week’s Emmy telecast, Weird Al Yankovic hilariously ordered a typewriter be brought to Martin’s seat.
